According to inside sources, intelligence shows that SPLA top commanders were ambushed by the rebels but survived as government forces repulsed the intended assassination.

“Gunfire started when some SPLA commanders were ambushed near the capital Juba. Gunshots were heard as government forces rescued the commanders,” a source said.

The gunfire then spread to Gudele, west of Juba town as SPLA pursued the alleged assassins.

Our sources are struggling to find out the names of the exact commanders.

In another report, direct talks have started minutes ago in Addis Ababa between Machar’s delegation and President Salva Kiir’s team as confirmed by the Ethiopian Foreign Minister, Tedros Adhanom.
